About Us

Tutu Church of God Academy was founded in 1964, by missionaries from Overland Park, Kansas City, Kansas, working under the directives of the Foreign Mission Board of the Church of God (Holiness) Headquarters, based in Overland Park, Kansas.  In its initial stages, it was only an elementary school.  In 1982 it was transitioned from a conventional elementary school into a K-12 academy utilizing the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) Curriculum.  The Principal, Pastor Kenrick Bukle, believed that doing so would advance the capability of the school, and also enable it to more effectively educate students in the academics required to enter college or get a good job, in conjunction with providing the character training necessary for students to be successful in their life’s pursuits.

The key attribute of the Tutu Church of God Academy is the mastery based A.C.E. curriculum. In referring to the A.C.E. curriculum, its founder describes its scriptural foundation in this manner; “Challenging and highly effective, the A.C.E. program is an extraordinary educational approach, Biblical in its core, that prepares students for tomorrow’s world while giving them traditional moral values that will last a lifetime … a unique program for this time in history—building Godly citizens and Christian leaders of tomorrow. A.C.E. is your servant to meet the educational needs of today, with the traditional values of yesterday, and the technology of tomorrow.”  It is also important to note that, “Whether the student is a high achiever, a moderately paced learner, or a slow learner, the A.C.E. educational process begins at the exact level determined by the child’s ability. This is individualization, making it possible for each student to master the subject matter before moving on. Such mastery is the foundation upon which all future learning is built”. Such mastery is what Tutu Church of God Academy provides, as its experience throughout the years bears record. 

Tutu Church of God Academy offers the following four Courses of Study:

1. Honors, 2. College Preparatory, 3. General, (Recipients receive a High School Diploma) and 4. Vocational, (a Certificate is granted). The academy’s graduates excel in universities throughout the United States. For instance, one of its former students was the University of the Virgin Islands’ Student Speaker, and another was a member of the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars in Florida, both graduating with honors in their respective universities’ 2012 graduating classes.

In October of 2012, the position of a new Administrator was created.  The endeavor is to move the school forward in a renewed mission to create an environment where parents can be proud to enroll their children and where students can receive a solid quality education and acquire a life-long passion for learning.
